| Dr.
Iván Pérez-Méndez, vice president of engineering,
has held leadership positions in the computer industry for more than
two decades. His vast expertise in speech technologies and software
development complements the power of Cadre’s experienced team
of professionals.
During a stint at Bell Labs that began in
1979, Iván was the lead developer of the System 85 PBX processor
– work that led to his being awarded two patents. He also
led an exploratory team that developed the hardware and software
of leading-edge multimedia terminals. In 1982, Iván became
president and co-founder of Emerging Technology Consultants, a software
company that developed EDIX, a leading multi-platform programmer’s
editor, plus a complementary suite of productivity tools.
In 1993, Iván joined SyVox Corporation, a developer
and marketer of state-of-the-art speech-based software applications,
as president and director, becoming the company’s chief executive
officer in 1999. There, he had primary responsibility for the company’s
research and product development efforts that yielded innovative
applications combining speech, wireless networks and wearable computers.
During Iván’s tenure, SyVox deployed its speech software
at more than 200 warehouses in North America and Europe, mostly
at Fortune 500 companies. At SyVox, Iván also honed his skills
in structuring and managing the development of reliable, available
and easily supportable software products for mission critical applications.
Iván holds a doctorate in electrical
and computer engineering from New Mexico State University and has
served in various non-profit organizations and boards in the Boulder,
Colorado area.
